Size:
The Gambrill Park Road Community is a forested community containing 108 homes situated on parcels accounting for a total of 860 acres of land. The community is adjacent to over 20,000 acres of nearly continuous forest (Upland Oak/Hardwood), including the 7000-acre Frederick City Municipal Forest.

Development Status:
At the time this plan was prepared, 4 of the 108 homes were still under construction and many more lots are being sold for development. Growth of this community is substantial and is expected to continue for some time to come. The maps in this plan are designed to aid firefighters in creating an initial attack action plan, however, with an ever-changing state of development, firefighters need to be aware of the possible presence of houses and other structures that do not appear on the maps.

Protection Responsibility:
Structure Fire Protection:
Four fire departments have first-due areas within the Gambrill Park Road Community:
- Braddock Heights VFC (Frederick County Co. 12)
- Independent Hose Co. (Frederick County Co. 1)
- Myersville VFC (Frederick County Co. 8)
- Wolfsville VFC (Frederick County Co. 21)

Wildland Fire Protection:
Wildland fire protection on private and public lands in this area is the jurisdiction of the Maryland DNR Forest Service, though most fire suppression is provided through cooperation with local fire departments.

Command Responsibility:
Structure Fire Command:
The first qualified initial attack incident commander on the scene becomes the incident commander and continues in that role until properly relieved.

Wildland Fire Command:
The first qualified incident commander on the scene becomes the incident commander until the arrival of a MD DNR Forest Service Forest Ranger, at which point a unified command is employed consisting of the Fire Service incident commander and the Forest Service incident commander.

Fires Involving Structure and Wildland:
Command will be a unified command of the structure fire incident commander and wildland fire incident commander.
